How to use Canvas Studio- Record PowerPoint and Video

Do you need to create a video for your class?

If so, you can use Canvas Studio. Canvas studio will allow you to record a video of yourself, a screen record, or a screen record with video. There is more than one way to create a video from Canvas, this is just one option.

HELPFUL TIPS:

- If you will be screen sharing, make sure to have that window up and ready to go, before you get into Canvas Studio to record.
- Try to make yourself an outline of what you want to say, to keep yourself on track.
- You can pause a recording if you need to
- You can make light edits in Canvas Studio.

How to record a video in Canvas Studio steps

Click on the "Studio" icon located on the far left hand side of the screen.
Click the "Record" option at the top right hand side of the screen.
If this is your first time using Canvas Studio, you will need to download the "Screen Recorder Launcher app". Follow the steps to install it.
You may need to click the record button again.
When you click the "record" button you will need to choose if you are making a screen recording or a webcam capture.

IF You Choose Screen Capture

1. If you choose the screen record option, you will see a window pop up that shows you which part of your screen will be recorded in your video.
2. You can adjust the recording window using the corners of the recording window. Click on them and drag them to the desired size.
3. Click "record" button when you are ready to begin your recording.
4. You will be able to pause your recording in the same area, if you need to.
5. When you are done recording, click the pause button, then click the done button in the same area.
6. You will then be taken to a screen where you can view your video and make light edits. For information on editing a Canvas Studio video, look for the specific resource on how to make edits.
7. Click the Upload button when you are done reviewing your video.
8. The video will process and be added to your Canvas Studio Library.

IF You Choose Webcam Capture

1. If you choose the "Webcam Capture" option, a pop-up box will appear. This pop-up will ask you to allow access to your microphone and webcam. Click "Allow".
2. Another pop up will appear. This will be your webcam recording window. You will see your video. Click "Start" to begin your video.
3. When you are finished, click the "Finish" button.
4. Your video will appear so you can review it and add a title. You can save your media or start over.
5. Save your media when you are ready.
6. Your video will process and be added to your Canvas Studio Library.
